We may all be thinking the same thing about the unexpected fast-spreading disease that hit the whole world. It’s scary, threatening, and heart-breaking.
This would probably not the first time that God gave us something to worry about. But we’re just humans, we tend to forget things easily especially if we are happy with what’s going on in our present lives.
If we will look at it on a different way, we should not be scared instead, we should be more cautious and it’s way better to be awakened than to be threatened.
These facts may help you reflect why did God gave us this kind of crisis;
1. I DON’T HAVE TIME. We usually say this nowadays. We were stuck in the idea of working until we get rich so we could have everything when in fact, we are slowly loosing “everything” we should have to live a happy life. That’s how God loves us. Before we completely loose “everything”, He gave us the time that we need to remember that our everything is our family, friends, loved-ones, and those happy memories. Mostly those that our money can’t buy.
2. I’M IMPATIENT, CAN’T WE MAKE IT INSTANT? In the world we’re living right now, it’s getting quite hard for us to be more understanding and considerate. We have our own rules, we want our own style, we want this and that. It’s evident that the word “PERSEVERANCE” is not our idea of success nowadays. Even the relationship that we are building today is becoming more instant. Instant in, instant out. Maybe God is just reminding us the importance of process. That after the long wait (like this home / community quarantine), something great will happen.
3. WHY S/HE HAVE IT AND I DON’T?, Of course, it’s part of the human nature to look for something that you don’t have. But maybe, we can also be more grateful for what we have right? Can you imagine this kind of situation happening during the 70’s. 80’s or 90’s? There’s no internet, no TikTok, no Netflix, no Youtube, no Zoom, Messenger, Facebook, no Mobile Legend, PS4, Laptop, Computer, smart phones, no mobile data. Can you? Can you now appreciate that you have a home, food, healthy body and these extra things that entertains us and help us communicate well?
Something like this crisis is not a thing to be happy about. I bet no one would wish for it to happen but somehow, it’s also a great reminder. It’s been years ago since everyone, since the world I guess stopped and focused on what really matters. It’s actually an answer to my long-time question, “Is it us who can’t appreciate the things we have to be happy or is it the world that dictates us how we should be that’s why we can’t simply be happy?”.
It’s totally frustrating that some countries were obviously not ready to face and fight this kind of situation. Ranting and fighting against each other won’t help as well. What we need right now is an act of unity and we can do that by simply doing our own part. We may not be the main characters who can bring down the antagonist but every supporting and extra characters have done their part that helped the main characters succeed.
We are all affected and for sure, nobody is celebrating for what’s happening now. We are all in this together and fighting together is better. Let’s pray and keep our hopes up. Covid-19 will end soon.
