Fate of the Oceanside Heart

There is one fear that greatly surpasses any human suppression. It is the fear of the ocean, thalassophobia. There is something that makes us anxious whenever thinking of vast and deep oceans. The feeling of suffocation and imminent death. Yet that fear also arises from the fact that no one could ever hear us no matter how loud we cried. The tears would only join the waves that will crush your body and soul, knowing that only you could save yourself. The storm continues to brew and droplets of rain felt like sharp razor blades, cutting through you as you bleed bright red, but of course gets washed away by the ocean. You only have a few minutes left until you succumb to mortality, your life flashes before you. There was something bitter-sweet about this flashback. You were only 18 and had a lot going for. You made good friends and memories with them. You made enemies and learned from them. You had a good family, although imperfect, always loved you. You made stupid choices but you accept it, now it is time for your death in the ocean. Embracing all the events that happened before this moment.  You were only human yet you tried to change the world. Your lifeless body gets washed away, only to be forgotten. Time doesn’t seem to exist at the moment and you started to fade out. Time. What if you could just go back in time and control your fate?

  1. We may not be able to bring back the time that we’ve lost and indeed, every life will come to an end but one thing for sure is that you will not be forgotten. Wrong decisions or mistakes cannot completely define who you are. The moment that you’ve made an effort in any aspect, you have at least served your purpose. We cannot change the world for we have no control of it but we can at least decide for ourselves and being a better version of ourselves as an individual could at least make an impact in this world. 🙂
