Bless Your Enemy

It is easy to love people who loves us. Forgive people who has our favour. Speak blessings to those who are good to us. How about those have wronged us? Those who have spoken negatively about us? Would you forgive them? Maybe after a thousand years? Would you love them? Maybe when sun shines in the west? Would you speak blessing towards them? Maybe?

It’s hard to be good to those who have done us wrong, I guess it is human nature to fight back, to stand up for yourself. There is nothing wrong about defending yourself. But sometimes, the only thing that is keeping us from the abundance, what’s stopping us from our own promise land is our own pride, our own anger. Because we wanted to give them a taste of their own medicine, we disrupt our  peace, we allow them to control us by letting our emotions get to us. We deny and yet, we become who they are. We become someone we despise. We become someone who we say we are not. We become the very person we are defending ourselves from. This is because we desire to repay suffering.

Who are we to judge or to get so angry at our enemies? They fight and act according to their belief, and so do we. We act to what we believe is right and true. And what is true to you may not be true to them. What is true to them may not be true to you. Who are we to say we are right and they are wrong? Who are they to say they are right and we are wrong? If we try to look at how our enemies look at us, would you be compassionate? Would you understand?

Counter accusing the enemy is not a sign of courage, it is never an indication of bravery. We drag ourselves down the pit of our own ruin for wanting to take revenge. It is not wise to react every time. To react out of anger is madness.

So protect your peace and speak blessing towards your enemy. Not because they deserve it, but you deserve to get to your promise land, because you deserve to hold your destiny in your hands. See, sometimes, the only problem is yourself. Sometimes, your own attitude is what’s stopping you from receiving your blessings. So speak blessings upon your enemies. Because when you bless them, you break the chain that’s been keeping the gate locked. Behind that gate is the land of milk and honey.

“Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”
