As of the last update from the World Health Organization (WHO) this March 22, 2020, There were 294.110 confirmed cases of persons possessing the coronavirus disease.
12,944 confirmed deaths and 187 countries, areas or territories were affected.
All citizens in different countries were encouraged to avoid all international and domestic travel due to the global and local impact of COVID-19.
Indeed, many countries are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks and implementing travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines, closing borders, and prohibiting non-citizens from entry with short advance notice. Airlines have cancelled many international flights as well as cruise operators who have suspended operations.
Most passengers are complaining to their ticket providers for not giving refunds instead, offering free rebooking which heated up the situation for those who had to cancel flights unintentionally since the airlines did not gave immediate response regarding the situation.
Each country raised up their own immigration rules to discourage travelers who still want to proceed with their flights. For instance, Bangkok, Thailand required incoming tourists and even Thai citizens who were outside of their country to provide a medical certificate proving they are Covid-19 free released not more than 72 hours and a minimum of USD 100,000 medical insurance.
Temporary travel ban was also imposed to some countries such as; Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Italy, New Zealand and many more. Travel restrictions will still depend on the concerned country. You may check their immigration websites for more details.
Since March 19, 2020, New Zealand blocked all travelers from entering the country. Which differs from Singapore which will not allow all short-term travelers (from anywhere around the world) to enter or transit through the country starting March 23, 2020.
